Lead – Domestic Banking
JOB PURPOSE
The Lead – Domestic Banking plays a pivotal role in managing and guiding a team responsible for delivering core banking services to domestic corporate clients.
The main focus will be on ensuring credit quality, operational excellence, maintaining high service standards, and fostering a customer-centric culture. By leading with integrity and efficiency, the Lead – Domestic Banking will help drive team performance, streamline processes, and ensure compliance with regulatory and internal policies. This role demands strong leadership, a deep understanding of domestic banking operations and a commitment to continuous improvement.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Strategic Contribution:
- Develop and execute domestic banking strategies to align with the bank’s overall goals
- Provide insights on market trends, customers’ needs and competitive dynamics
- Participate in cross-functional projects/ committees and contribute to the growth and transformation of domestic banking activities
- Credit quality:
- Supervise credit proposals for completeness, accuracy and alignment with internal credit policies of the bank
- Maintain high standards of credit underwriting and portfolio quality
- Develop a culture of collaboration with Credit Origination team to ensure all financial analysis, credit application and documentation are prepared within agreed deadline
- Monitor the performance of the domestic credit portfolio including repayment trends, utilisation, and exposure levels
- Identify early warning signals and initiate proactive measures
- Risk Management and Compliance:
- Ensuring domestic banking activities are conducted within a robust risk and compliance framework by overseeing the Relationship Managers team activities and collaborating with the transactional support team and internal stakeholders
- Monitoring Relationship Managers’ adherence to all applicable banking laws, regulations and internal guidelines
- Oversee the proper execution of AML and KYC procedures by the Relationship Managers for all domestic banking clients
- Team Leadership & Staff Development:
- Lead, supervise, and support the domestic banking team to ensure optimal performance and execution
- Set clear goals and expectations, conduct regular performance reviews, provide coaching and mentoring to staff under responsibility
- Promote a working environment that values collaboration, respect, and open communication with internal and external stakeholders
- Identify training needs and facilitate professional development programs to enhance team capabilities
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS
- BAC+4 - Postgraduate Diploma in Banking, Finance or related field
- At least 12 years’ working experience with a minimum of 5 years in the Banking sector ideally Corporate Banking as Assistant Relationship Manager or Relationship Manager
COMPETENCIES
- Possess good knowledge of the economic, fiscal, regulatory, and legal environment
- Excellent knowledge of banking and financial regulations
- Very good understanding of domestic banking products, services and operations
- Very good knowledge of credit processes, financial analysis and portfolio management
- Ability to lead, motivate and develop a team to achieve performance goals
- Capacity to engage confidently and professionally with senior client stakeholders including CEOs, CFOs, and business owners
- Ability to remain composed and solution-focused
- Proactive in addressing challenges and turning them into opportunities for growth and learning
