Finance Manager
JOB PURPOSE
Overseeing end-to-end finance operations, including expenses, budget preparation and monitoring, review of procedures and controls towards improving efficiency, as well as ad-hoc projects and requests as and when they come up.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Financial reporting
- Ensure proper accounting records are kept in compliance with statutory requirements, accounting standards and financial policies.
- Monitor the daily operations of the accounting function including regulatory reporting, bank reconciliations, manual entries, payables, etc.
- Ensure monthly/quarterly financial and management reporting are prepared in a timely manner
- Ensure annual accounts for audit and annual statutory reporting are prepared in a timely manner
- Provide timely and accurate financial information and analysis
- Ensure completeness of tax returns and other statutory compliance requirements
- Perform ad-hoc works as assigned by line manager
- Ensure the integrity of the financial data supplied by the Finance team to internal and external stakeholders.
Financial planning and forecasting – Expenses
- Contribute to the bank’s annual budget process with regards to expenses
- Perform monthly analysis of actuals versus budget ensuring major variances are explained, and which support decisions for the senior management
- Creates quarterly forecasts to be used by the senior management and the Board
- Pro-actively identify cost-optimisations or as directed, provide analysis that aids effective and appropriate resource allocation
- Develop, implement and maintain an effective expense planning and analysis capability
Systems / processes /controls
- Set up internal control policies and procedures and continuously find the opportunities to improve them
- Manage and hold accountability for the Finance systems
Leadership/management
- Manage and organise the work of the team.
- Help the team in developing competencies and expertise
- As part of the Finance Leadership team help to set the direction and objectives of the team.
COMPETENCIES
- Strong technical accounting knowledge
- Creation of statutory accounts
- Experience running annual audit
- Be familiar with banking and financial regulations
- Analytical mind
- Good communication skills – both written and verbal
- A keen eye for detail and desire to probe further into data
- Ability to stick to time constraints
- Ability to delegate and manage the work of others
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS *
- Bachelor degree in Finance or ACCA Qualified
- At least 5 years' experience within the Banking sector
* Candidates not holding the above requirements but having significant expert knowledge in the field of Finance and Accounting may be considered for assessment
